In AV-Comparatives’ best antimalware product of 2016 assessment released on Tuesday, the testing firm chose Avira Antivirus Pro 2016 as the top product, followed by Bitdefender and Kaspersky, according to a full report by CSO Online.
Symantec’s Norton product was not included in the list after the company declined to submit its tool for testing.
Symantec did submit their solution for the AV-Test assessment, which ultimately awarded their Norton product with the Best Protection award for consumers. Kaspersky and Avira also made the testing house’s list.
The security firm has not commented on why it decided to not submit their product for the AV-Comparatives test, but did share in a 2012 community forum post that “AV-Comparatives does not offer a subscription focused solely on these ‘whole product’ or ‘real-world’ types of tests.”
