DOWN - Card fraud 3%

Overall card fraud in the UK has fallen from £439 million in 2005to £428 million in 2006. This is attributed largely to theintroduction of chip and PIN technology.

UP - Online fraud 44%

Online banking fraud has increased from £23.2 million to £33.5 million over the same period. This is a sign of vulnerabilitieslikely to be an ongoing concern for the banking industry.

TOP TEN BY SITES - Total number of sites: 396

After a respite last month, the trend for March shows a marked increasein the number of phishing emails being sent out, although the number ofsites has remained static. Alliance & Leicester remains the number-onetarget for the second month, but for Nationwide, its raised profile inboth the email and site listings could not have come at a worse time.
