Name: Matt Dircks
Why nominated: Joining the secure remote access company Bomgar in 2014, CEO Matt Dircks quickly expanded the firm's offerings from a single software product to three, while advancing into the emerging security product space known as privileged access management.
Profile: With 25 years of experience in the security software industry, Dircks is responsible for Bomgar's day-to-day operations and long-term market and product development strategy.
Under his leadership, Atlanta-based Bomgar in February 2018 acquired established privileged identity solution provider Lieberman Software, before selling the suddenly expanded company from Thoma Bravo to Francisco Partners – both private equity firms.
The move further solidified Bomgar's presence in the privileged access management arena – a key strategy, considering Dircks' strong advocacy of the technology as a means for security and IT professionals to securely connect to their corporate devices and systems around the world. And Dircks believes this is especially critical in light of the European Union's new GDPR regulations.
Prior to Bomgar, Matt was vice president and general manager of service support products at BMC software when it acquired Numara Software in February 2012 and he became vice president of products. He has also served management roles at Quest Software, Full Armor Corporation (his own start-up), NetIQ Corp. and Citrix Systems.
What colleagues say: “Matt is what you want in a leader – he has the perfect blend of humility and strength to establish an admirable business culture, combined with strategic product thinking and the understanding of how that links to operational discipline... He transformed Bomgar's business, taking a 10-year-old, founder-owned company with one product to a company with multiple products, multiple sectors, multiple delivery mechanisms, and multiple offices worldwide in three years…”
