U.S. and Chinese government officials held a joint conference Thursday to discuss cybercrime and related issues, this is the third such meeting between the two power on this topic.
During the course of the meeting U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch and DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, together with Chinese State Councilor and Minister of the Ministry of Public Security Guo Shengkun re-committed their respective nations to cooperating on investigating cybercrimes and criminal online activity and recommended holding regular network protection working-level meetings, either remotely or in-person.
The officials also agreed to continue sharing information to help counter the use of the internet by terrorist and cybercrimial groups and they all lauded the launch of the U.S.-China hotline mechanism that went into operating this fall and decided to keep this line of communication open.
