Uh-Oh-io. Another breach in the Buckeye State as Bowling Green prof loses USB stick with student info

Where did the breach take place? Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

How many victims? About 1,800 former students of accounting Professor W. David Albrecht.

What kind of personal information? Social Security numbers for 199 students he taught in 1992, and the names, grades and university identification numbers for students he taught from 1993 to this year.

What happened? A flash drive containing the information went missing.

What was the response? The university has sent letters to those affected and has offered to pay one year of identity theft prevention services for each victim.

Details: Officials do not believe the storage device was stolen, and there is no evidence any of the data has been misused.
