Malware possibly compromised payment cards at Grand Casino Mille Lacs

Minnesota-based Grand Casino Mille Lacs believes that an unauthorized individual used malware to access certain payment card transactions, and subsequently used compromised customer payment cards to make fraudulent purchases.

How many victims? 1,600 payment card transactions were accessed, according to reports

What type of personal information? Names, payment card numbers, and card expiration dates.

What happened? Payment cards used at Grand Casino Mille Lacs were subsequently used to make fraudulent purchases, and may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual who used malware.

What was the response? An investigation is ongoing with a forensic investigation firm, which is helping to implement additional security measures. Grand Casino Mille Lacs does not have sufficient information to directly contact all affected customers, but did post a notification to its website.  

Details: Grand Casino Mille Lacs learned of the incident on Sept. 15. Grand Casino Mille Lacs believes that certain payment card transactions were accessed between April 24 and Oct. 9.
