Oppenheimer’s Henry Jiang to discuss ransomware mitigation at RiskSec NY

Henry Jiang, CISO and managing director at Oppenheimer & Co., will be participating in a session entitled "RANSOM EVERY WARE," at RiskSec NY on May 2.

The day-long event, to be held at Convene in midtown Manhattan, is SC Media's new threat intelligence and risk management gathering for cybersecurity industry leaders.

Jiang will be discussing key methods for detection and remediation for ransomware through this hands-on workshop.

"Ransomware is real and it is becoming more prevalent in the enterprise environment because that's where the money is," says Jiang. "Perhaps such a shift from the consumer space to enterprises gives organizations a real chance to fight the ransomware with more tools and protections that consumers do not have."

He says the first advantage which enterprises have is the layered cybersecurity protection model. This strategy, he says, has became more common, at least with companies with a more mature level of cybersecurity program.

"As we know, no single protection mechanism by itself can be 100 percent effective to thwart an attack," Jiang says. "As the layer security protection model evolves, by design it does offer more protection compared with individual home users who are much more vulnerable to any form of cyber attacks including ransomware."

Jiang will be expanding on this discussion during his session at RiskSec NY.
