Prepare for more threats on Valentine’s Day

Akonix Systems, an enterprise security solutions provider, is warning companies to be on guard for additional infosec threats come Valentine’s Day.

Because end-users will likely use instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing applications more around the holiday, companies are sure to become more vulnerable to attacks from worms and viruses that increasingly are using these applications as ways to penetrate networks.

Akonix warns that companies should be sure to tell employees to take extra precautions on Valentine's Day, including not opening files with words like 'love' or 'Valentine,' tell friends not to send attachments over IM, and more.
