Security firms produce all-in-one access key

Two security companies have teamed up to produce an all-in-one electronic door key and computer logon token.

The RfiKey is designed to give employees access physical access to buildings and data access to computers. It is a combination of USB port token and 125 kHz proximity access control. A user would typically wave the key in front of an access panel, and a back-end credential checking system unlocks the door if access is authorised. At the employee's desk, the user inserts the key into USB port of a computer and logs into the corporate network using a PIN.

Security firms Rainbow Technologies and HID Corporation developed the key.

The RFiKey starts at $35 to $65 (USD)
