Obama social media links, not accounts, compromised by SEA

On Monday, links posted on President Obama's Twitter and Facebook accounts may have redirected visitors to YouTube videos hosted by the band of pro-Assad hacktivists known as the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA).

The hacker collective took to its Twitter account – @Official_SEA16 – to post about it, stating, “Obama doesn't have any ethical issues with spying on the world, so we took it upon ourselves to return the favor.”

As it turns out, SEA targeted the link shortener, and the actual presidential social media accounts were not compromised, according to an official with Organizing for Action, which had its own website mildly and briefly attacked by SEA around the same time.

SEA also took credit for hacking an Obama email account.
