Phishers target Bank of England

The Bank of England has been targeted by scammers seeking to con users into executing Trojan software.

Possible phishers have sent Trojan attachments to hundreds of thousands of users under the guise of an anti-fraud tool from the Bank of England.

The email message, containing a suspect attachment, reads "Dear customer. The security of your personal and account information is extremely important to us. By practising good security habits, you can help us ensure that your private information is protected. Please install our special software, that will remove all the keyloggers and backdoors from your computer."

A spokesman for the bank said the incident had been reported to the UK's National Hgh-Tech Crime Unit, where several similar incidents are under investigation.
