We found this tool to be a straightforward install, but there were many steps to getting the initial server set up. The server installation itself takes just a few minutes, but the initial configuration can take a little longer to get everything up and running. Once the initial configuration is complete, clients can be deployed efficiently through an Active Directory Group Policy software package installation.
Management is done through the Enterprise Server management console. We found this console to be slightly awkward to use at first. We had to run through the quick deployment guide in its entirety to understand how to configure profiles and to navigate our way around the product. With that said, we did find this solution to offer a great amount of flexibility and policy options, including the ability to modify the Windows GINA, as well as automate many encryption settings.
Documentation included a few PDF manuals for both the administrative and user side. We found all the documentation to be well organized and easy to follow with many screen shots and clear, step-by-step instructions.
WinMagic includes the first year of product support in the purchase of the product. After the first year, customers can purchase additional support through an annual support program. Support offered includes access to an online knowledge base, as well as phone and email assistance. Access to upgrades, patches and service releases also is provided.
At a price of $99 per user for 100 users, we find this to be a good value for the money. SecureDoc offers a good feature set with many configuration options for encryption and data protection throughout the enterprise.
