This product allows administrators to manage assets while preventing unauthorized changes to systems and keeping up compliance according to standards, such as PCI, GLBA, HIPAA and SOX, among others. INNERspace also incorporates power management and green computing as part of policy so machines can be assigned proper power profiles, but can still be managed without the need for Wake-on-LAN.
The installation of this product is simple and straightforward. The server installation wizard will install and set up all the necessary components for the system, including the server itself, management tools, management console and the server Sentry or agent. After the system is installed, all management is done through the management console, which has a very organized look and feel. Sentries are deployed easily through a deployment console inside the management console and initial setup is complete.
Setting up policies in INNERspace is quick and easy with a vast amount of options. Some policy options include detecting unauthorized software and hardware, as well as policy compliance, such as AV software, hotfixes, service packs and group policy object compliance. We found this policy engine to be very comprehensive and quite flexible with the ability to create very specialized custom templates quickly and easily.
Documentation was comprised of several PDF guides, including installation and user guide, as well as many others. All these guides were clear and well-organized complete with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and many screen shots and configuration examples.
Promisec provides support as part of a perpetual licensing agreement with annual maintenance at a price of 20 percent of the original purchase price. This support includes 24/7 phone and email technical assistance. However, there is no web-based support offered in the form of a knowledge base or forum for customers.
At a price of $42 per endpoint, this tool delivers a solid value for the money. INNERspace offers a vast amount of control in an easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage package.
