Citrix Systems Password Manager

This product is designed to be the password management piece of a much larger identity management puzzle. Therefore, the features focus only on password management. With the Citrix Password Manager an administrator can do password policy enforcement, transparent password change and manage single sign-on credentials. An interesting feature to this product is its ability to create batch credential password provisioning. When an administrator rolls out a new application they can use the batch credential provisioning tool to pre-populate the Password Manager store with the proper user credentials. This way, users never need to have any interaction with adding credentials to a central store.

We found this product to be of average ease of use. Installation is fairly straightforward, but involves a lot of steps. First, the central store must be created. From there the service, console and the agent must be installed. Once everything is up and running, there is some configuration to do. Finally, we get to the management console itself. This console is organized with tree navigation on the left-hand side and specific tasks appear when a feature or setting is selected. We found this console to be fairly intuitive, but we did have to click around a bit to get familiar with it.

While this product is basically just a password manager with some extra features, it does have some good integration features to bring to the table. It is designed to integrate into existing identity management platforms, such as HP Select Identity, Courion AccountCourier and IBM Tivoli Identity Manager. This helps to add some functionality to an already existing environment. However, without integration, this product does offer some nice features, although full identity management is not one of them.

Documentation for this product is in a straightforward, bland, back-to-the-basics form. Both the installation guide and the administration guide lack any kind of illustrations or screen shots.
Citrix offers a comprehensive support program, which includes everything from phone technical support and customer service to email support to documentation, downloads, updates and a knowledge base.

At a cost of $59 per named user, we find this product to be an average value for the money.
