Pleasant Solutions Pleasant Password Server v4.1.7

The Pleasant Password Server from Pleasant Solutions provides a way to add central management capabilities to the KeePass Password Safe, a free, open source password manager. This allows administrators to keep user Password Safe data stores secure and encrypted in-house without having to use the cloud or have users manage their own Password Safe. Users can use the Password Safe to store passwords, PINs, credit card numbers, license keys and any other sensitive data. With this product deployed, users can easily access their Password Safe via a KeePass client application or through an intuitive web interface that only requires a web browser and an internet connection.

We found this product to be quick and easy to deploy. The initial installation was performed by simply running the installation executable on the Windows server that houses the application, and the server was installed in minutes. After installation was complete, we were able to logon to the web-based management interface, which we found to be well-organized with an intuitive tab-top navigation structure. After a few more minutes of configuring, we had the Password Server connected to our Active Directory database and we were able to import and start managing users.

This solution adds a lot of functionality to the KeePass Password Safe. Using this tool, administrators are able to interface directly with Active Directory and enforce password policy down to the user client application, as well as manage user access and logging for audit purposes. From a user standpoint, this product enables users to keep their passwords stored in an encrypted database that is easily accessible via client applications for Windows, Android and iOS or through a web portal.

Documentation included an installation and configuration guide in PDF format, as well as a full administrator help wiki via the website. The installation and configuration guide provided a basic overview of installation and initial configuration procedures in a clear and organize format. However, we found the online wiki to be a lot more detailed and to include much more configuration and management steps and instructions. However, we did find that much of the documentation was light on visuals, such as screen shots and diagrams.

Pleasant Solutions offers eight-hours-a-day/five-days-a-week phone- and email-based technical assistance to customers at no cost. Along with no-cost phone and email aid, customers can access scattered resources on the vendor website. These include a product documentation wiki, a knowledge base and a few short tutorial videos. We would like to see a support area with these resources organized and in one place so they are easier to find. There is also no 24/7 support available at this time.

At a price starting at $125 for five user licenses, we find this product to be a good value for the money. The Pleasant Password Server offers an affordable way for any-sized organization to deploy a central, manageable Password Safe throughout their environment that is easy to deploy and manage, as well as easy for users to access.
