Summary

Simeio Identity Orchestrator is a microservices- and cloud-based identity platform that takes a service-first approach to identity and access management. The scalable, easy-to-use interface manages identities, simplifies complex operations, and supports multi-vendor environments. This solution securely engages with anyone, anywhere, anytime, on any device, and because of its many platform capabilities and large partner ecosystem, provides complete coverage of all identity and access management use cases.

Simeio’s delegated administrative capabilities supports business-to-business operations and use cases, giving suppliers the necessary power to onboard, offboard, and manage their own users. By delegating many of these tasks, administrators may refocus their efforts away from supplier management and towards internal organizational responsibilities.

The primary organizational responsibility that administrators have is to onboard users and then assign them role-based access controls. Administrators may configure the fields in the application onboarding form by toggling different options on or off. However, the form rules come with an automated logic already built into them, so there is minimal need for traditional programming. Administrators may choose from various authentication methods, including several multifactor authentications (MFA). One thing to note, though, is that Simeio Identity Orchestrator does not authenticate at the workstation level, and broadening the MFA integrations unfortunately comes with additional charges.

One of our favorite features is the user-friendly method of requesting application access. We liken it to online shopping. End-users need only navigate to the portal request section and then add to their cart all the applications to which they would like to access. End-users complete their “shopping” session by checking out. Simeio then sends its access requests to administrators for final approval.

The dashboard is widget-based with fully flexible customization. There are extensive configurations throughout the entire platform that enable organizations to tailor this solution to meet their precise needs. However, some end-users may find navigating the platform a bit challenging. There is a noticeable learning curve with this platform, and Simeio offers no readily available documentation to troubleshoot issues effectively or to bring struggling end-users up-to-speed. We strongly recommended that Simeio link the portal to a knowledgebase so that administrators and end-users alike may enjoy a more streamlined implementation of Simeio Identity Orchestrator.

Overall, Simeio Identity Orchestrator is an extensible, standards-based platform that improves the identity and access management experience through automation. Identity Orchestrator makes good financial sense since it easily integrates with other identity and access management solutions, complements and leverages existing investments, and reduces the amount of organizational change management. The seamless orchestration layer supports multiple, backend technology platforms. Therefore, organizations looking to looking to add additional identity and access management solutions to another identity and access management solution may do so without needing to retrain end-users.

Pricing is tiered and starts at $10 per user, per month for both Self Service Identity Administration and Access Management. There is an upcharge for deploying more than two connectors per month. 24/7 phone, email and website support are included. Additional support options are available for a fee. There is little documentation, however, and no online forum or direct access to a knowledgebase from the platform. Simeio functions more like a managed service provider and completes setup and any rework on behalf of organizations.
