The StoneGate SSL VPN from Stonesoft offers a full, web-based clientless SSL VPN for users to gain remote access securely to company network resources. With this product, users can easily access web-based and client/server applications, remote desktops and file shares from outside the corporate network without the need to download a VPN client because everything is available via a web-based portal.
We found this product to be a straightforward deployment and had a basic configuration up and running in just minutes. The initial configuration consists of running through a few quick steps to set up network information through a serial console connection to the appliance. Once the network and basic settings are complete, all further configuration and management is done via the web GUI. We found this to be easy to use and intuitive to navigate.
Setting up applications and settings for which users can access which applications was also quite easy. This product can use the existing Active Directory structure to create groups and users, and users can login using their existing Active Directory credentials. We also found this tool to have many wizards available for doing common setup tasks, which made management quick and easy.
Documentation included a small appliance installation booklet, which detailed the steps necessary to get the solution connected to the network with a basic configuration. Also provided was a PDF administrators guide, which detailed advanced configuration, as well as providing a lot of information on becoming familiar with both the administrator and user GUIs. We found both pieces of documentation to be well-organized and easy to follow with many step-by-step instructions, screen shots and configuration examples.

Basic support includes eight-hours-a-day/five-days-a-week phone and email support with an eight hour response time, and premium is 24/7/365 with a two-hour response time. Users also can access support online via a knowledge base and product documentation downloads.
At a price starting at $9,310 for 50 concurrent users, we find this tool to be a good value for the money. The StoneGate SSL VPN offers a multitude of easy-to-use features; however, the price can go upwards of $55,000 for the 500 concurrent user license.
