Vulnerability Management

SC hosting eSymposium on web application security today

SC Magazine today is hosting a free eSymposium on web application security.

Login to the event begins at 12:30 p.m. EST.

Web application vulnerabilities are so numerous that they prove an especially ripe conduit through which cybercriminals can tunnel to steal lucrative data. Given the ever-rising frequency of such breaches, one might assume web app holes have been sewn up. This, however, isn't the case. So, why do these cracks still linger, and what should security teams be doing better to plug them?

Matt Tesauro, board member of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), will deliver the keynote. He is project lead of the group's web testing environment, which brings together best-of-breed application security tools and documentation.

Other speakers include Andrés Pablo Riancho, director of web security at vulnerability management firm Rapid7, where he leads efforts to automate the detection of web application flaws; Mike Shema, senior security engineer at Qualys, also a vulnerability management vendor, where he is focused on an automated web assessment service; and Ansh Patnaik, director of industry solutions at threat and risk management provider ArcSight, where he is responsible for compliance solutions.

eSymposium attendees can earn CPE credits.
