SC Magazine’s web news team takes top honors at ASBPE Awards

The web news team of SC Magazine received the highest honor, a Gold award, in the 2016 Azbee Awards of Excellence, produced by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). The SC web news team earned the distinction in both the regional and national categories.

The entire web news team pulled down the gold designation for its coverage of IT security issues on the daily news site. It was recognized for in-depth, unbiased business and technical content and up-to-the-minute news, comprehensive features, analysis pieces and objective product reviews. The SC staff frequently attends security industry conferences – such as BlackHat, DefCon and RSA – so SC reporters can keep readers informed of breaking news pieces and offer interviews with industry executives.

The winning news team is comprised of Teri Robinson, executive editor; Doug Olenick, online editor; Robert Abel, content coordinator; Jeremy Seth Davis, senior reporter; Greg Masters, managing editor; and Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial. Since the awards event on July 21, the SC web team has been further enhanced with the addition of Senior Reporter Bradley Barth.

SC Magazine was the recipient of three national awards in the annual awards contest open to business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications. Additionally, SC Magazine earned five awards for the Northeast region in the awards ceremony. The editorial and design team of SC Magazine pulled down wins for art direction and editorial excellence across the brand's print and web platforms.
