Stolen Utah state laptop contains personal information of about 2,000 people

The Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) reported a laptop containing the personal information of 2,000 people stolen on Monday.

What types of personal information? Social Security numbers and other sensitive data.

What was the response? The department is reviewing its procedures with all employees and contacting affected individuals.

The DWS has promised to help people who experience credit problems as a result of the breach.

Details: The computer is password protected.
