TRICARE breach victims report financial fraud

An amended complaint (PDF) was filed against the U.S. Defense Department over the September 2011 TRICARE breach after victims of the data theft experienced fraudulent financial activity, including suspicious charges on credit cards and unauthorized withdrawals from bank accounts. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Department of Defense was presented with a $4.9 billion class-action lawsuit stemming from a breach in which the personal information of nearly five million current and former U.S. soldiers was compromised. In addition, the complaint now includes Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), the high-tech defense contractor entrusted with the data. The unencrypted tapes were stolen from an SAIC employee's car in a parking garage.

Nexperia impacted by cyberattack
