The US Army Medical Information Technology Centre has implemented an upgrade to improve the security, performance and availability of its global Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure.
The Technology Center rolled out 65,000 seats of ChangeAuditor for Active Directory and DirectoryLockdown, both engineered by NetPro Computing, a provider of distributed services management software.
The purchase follows on from the Medical Command's previous purchase and implementation of NetPro's DirectoryAnalyzer, which had been deployed to provide real-time Active Directory monitoring and diagnostics for the department.
"The widely distributed and mission-critical nature of our environment necessitates intelligent, proactive infrastructure management solutions," said Terry Gregurvich, chief, Core Technologies Division.
"When we determined that we needed an extra layer of security and auditing capability for our environment, we turned to NetPro first. We had used DirectoryAnalyzer successfully for several years and we were confident in the quality and scalability of the software."
ChangeAuditor is designed to track, audit, report, and alert on changes that impact the directory: from GPO and Schema to critical group and operational changes. DirectoryLockdown monitors the Configuration and Schema Naming Contexts (NCs) of Active Directory for unauthorised changes.
The US Army Medical Department includes the Army's fixed hospitals and dental facilities; preventive health, medical research, development and training institutions; and a veterinary command that provides food inspection and animal care services for the entire Department of Defense.
