Watch: Leaders dissect the obstacles and opportunities of a ‘whole of nation’ cyber approach

A “whole of nation” approach to cybersecurity is clear in concept: public and private sector leaders working together to counter threats that stand to infringe upon national security.

But what does that mean in execution? Information sharing is often stilted, for example, by sensitivity of data or fears of liability. Response to ransomware attacks is often anchored in business fallout, versus national security.

The Cybersecurity Collaborative, in partnership with SC Media, hosted a webcast discussion to dissect obstacles and opportunities of a unified response to ransomware and other cyberthreats that threaten government, enterprises, and the critical infrastructure that the nation relies upon to function.

Participating in the discussion were Arlan McMillan, chief information security officer of Kirkland & Ellis LLP; Karen Evans, partner at KE&T Partners and former CIO of the Department of Homeland Security; and Parham Eftekhari, executive director of Cybersecurity Collaborative, and founder & board chair of the Institute for Critical Infrastructure and Technology.
