A new security web site will be asking the security community to send it details of attacks on network infrastructure in order to the security community overcome new attacks.
Websense has unveiled its new Security Labs service to provide information on new web-based attacks and threats in an effort to help the security community make network infrastructure safer.It will provide a forum where visitors can submit details of malicious threats they are experiencing. It will then research and analyse these leads and inform customers how to mitigate such attacks.
Websense claims the new service will also trawl through 24 million web sites daily for malicious mobile code and hacks. Its team of security experts manages a honeypot of unprotected computers to discover new Trojans, keyloggers and blended threats. It will use the findings to study how these different threats work on an enterprise network and come up with the appropriate contermeasure.
The security lab will publish and warn the security community of any major threats it finds by updates on its web site. Harold Kester, chief technology officer said the service was a natural progression to make public its own internal security findings to the community.
"Websense Security Labs serves as a powerful resource to our customers and the security community as a whole, ensuring that new threats are discovered and stopped before they can wreak havoc across an organisation," Kester said.
