Brazil's Supreme Court nixes lower court's WhatsApp ban
A Supreme Court judge in Brazil called a lower court's order to block WhatsApp disproportionate.
The Supreme Court in Brazil nixed a ban on WhatsApp imposed by a lower court judge earlier today.
Judge Daniel Barbosa had ordered telecommunications companies Oi, Nextel, TIM and Vivo e Claro with fines of about $15,000 daily to block the app, which is used by 93 percent of Brazilians, after WhatsApp refused to comply with a court order in a criminal investigation.
WhatsApp has claimed it doesn't have access to the data requested by law enforcement.
