The increasing complexity of mobile devices, such as the soon-to-be-launched "must-have" iPhone, poses a growing security headache to employers.
The technical advancements of such gadgetry allow vast amounts of data
to be downloaded and stored. In the light of various high-profile
stories of data theft, devices like the iPhone only make it easier and
quicker for those with malicious intent to commit an "inside job" - and
it's virtually untraceable. These devices could potentially be used to
carry thousands of documents out of the office, or even to release a
virus onto the corporate network.
Following the news of the launch, companies need to ensure that they are
agile in the way they protect the network, making sure IT security
standards are always one step ahead.
