SC Magazine honored with five regional Azbee Awards

SC Magazine picked up five Azbee Awards for editorial excellence, design and online presence at a gala event hosted on Wednesday, Aug. 12 by the New York City chapter of the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), the trade association for editors, writers, art directors and designers employed in BTB media.

Winners of the 2015 Northeast Region Azbee Awards were announced and SC Magazine's five awards – recognizing BTB publications in the Northeast Region – add to the five other awards SC Magazine has already earned in 2015.

At Wednesday night's announcement of the Northeast regional Azbee Awards, SC Magazine received recognition for editorial excellence for VP of Editorial Illena Armstrong's Editor's Letter column, and the SC Lab Team, consisting of Technology Editor Peter Stephenson and Program Manager Judy Traub, earned honors for the Product Section of the magazine, which presents reviews of new IT security technology tools and services.

As well, Art Director Michael Strong earned the top prize for design excellence for the front cover of the special issue, Spotlight on Online Fraud, as well as a Silver Award for his front cover design of Spotlight The Road Warrior.

Additionally, SC's web team picked up an award for Online Excellence: Social Media Presence.

Earlier this year, SC Magazine won a national Azbee Award for Art Director Michael Strong's front cover design of a special issue, Spotlight on Online Fraud.

The magazine also was the recipient of four Tabbie Awards from the Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI), announced in June. The 2015 Tabbie Awards featured more than 400 entries and SC Magazine's year-end special issue, Reboot 25, was among the winners for the Best Single Issue. Armstrong snagged another accolade for her Editor's Column, this one for "Cash is King, For Now."

SC's web team won honors for Best Use of Social Media, with one of the Tabbie judges commenting: "Nice to see; can point to real conversion success."

And finally, for his design for the front cover of the special issue, Spotlight on Online Fraud, Strong received a Bronze award. A Tabbie judge said of his work: "Fun cover that keeps the reader wanting to know more. Great illustration!"
