SCNY VIDEO: Becky Bace talks IoT security

Becky Bace, chief strategist for the Center for Forensics, Information Technology and Security with the University of South Alabama, talked securing the Internet of Things (IoT) on Tuesday at SC Congress New York.

Bace said she thinks “IoT [security] represents, basically, in some ways, an extension of the things that we've already faced in mobile security, with some add-ons.” Some issues she expects to see include the scalability of the number of IoT devices, as well as standards involving IoT devices.

As far as the future of IoT security is concerned, Bace said it is tough to make predictions because the threat landscape for IoT is largely unknown.

Bace was joined during her SC Congress New York session by Marcus Sachs, CSO of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, and Nick Belov, VP of information security at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
