Yahoo's Alex Stamos to join Facebook as CSO

Alex Stamos, who was appointed CISO at Yahoo last year, will now head to social networking giant Facebook to serve as chief security officer.

In a Wednesday blog post, Stamos announced that he will take on the new role next Monday, stating that “there is no company in the world that is better positioned to tackle the challenges faced” by today's internet users, and those “yet to connect.”

Throughout his career, Stamos founded iSEC Partners and also served as the CTO of Artemis Internet. Before joining Yahoo last spring, he helped create TrustyCon, a 2014 security conference whose speakers included experts who canceled their talks at RSA Conference after a report exposed an alleged $10 million deal between NSA and security firm RSA.

Stamos will replace Facebook's previous CSO Joseph Sullivan. At Yahoo, Ramses Martinez will serve as interim CISO.
