Apple this week released Java updates for Mac OS X 10.6 and OS X 2012-005, which will patch vulnerabilities in the Lion, Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard platforms. The security bulletin recommended users update to the latest Java 6 version, 1.6.0_35, on the heels of Oracle issuing an emergency fix last Thursday for vulnerabilities in Java. However, according to security blogger Brian Krebs, the Apple update does not appear to address the vulnerability that has led to widespread attacks.
