Apple denies storing information on Chinese customers

Apple is denying allegations that its iPhone location finding service can be used to identify individual phone owners' activity.

A Chinese state-owned television broadcaster reported earlier this month that the phones were collecting data that could compromise country secrets, according to Bloomberg. Apple responded through a post on its Chinese website that stated the company has never worked with government agencies to create backdoors in their products.

The phone's location service is used to help users find specific local activities, such as stores and restaurants, and Apple never stores information on a particular customer or device, according to the statement.

“We are strongly committed to giving our customers clear and transparent notice, choice and control over their information, and we believe our products do this in a simple and elegant way,” Apple wrote.
