Capita hack-related breaches reported by nearly 90 orgs

BBC reports that nearly 90 organizations have notified the UK's Information Commissioners Office regarding data breaches concerning major business outsourcing firm Capita, which was impacted by a cyberattack in March and was later found to have a long-exposed data server. "We are receiving a large number of reports from organizations directly affected by these incidents and we are currently making inquiries," the ICO said. Such a statement comes after more than 300 pension funds have been informed by The Pensions Regulator to determine whether they had any data compromised by the attack against Capita, with the Universities Superannuation Scheme, the UK's primary private pension scheme, already working to notify its 500,000 members regarding the potential compromise of their data, including names, birthdates, National Insurance numbers, and USS member numbers. "Capita continues to work closely with specialist advisers and forensic experts to investigate the cyber incident and we have taken extensive steps to recover and secure the data," said Capita.
