Cloud replication service by Backblaze debuts

VentureBeat reports that enterprise data backup and cloud storage solutions provider Backblaze has rolled out a new cloud replication service that lets users automatically back up data on their object storage service B2 and synchronize datasets stored across various regions. As more enterprises adopt a cloud-first approach, Backblaze clients have expressed a need to maintain a copy of some of their data off-premises and in a location geographically separate from the primary copy to strengthen their business continuity capabilities and sometimes to ensure compliance with regulators security or data residency requirements, according to the company. Because existing replication services are complex, expensive, and only exist within closed platforms -- they are either unaffordable, unattractive or both for most businesses, according to Backblaze cofounder and CEO GlebBudman. Cloud replication solves this problem without stressing IT teams or budgets.Cloud replication also allows gives companies lower-latency data access, which is useful in the new remote-worker-centric environment and helps developers avoid having to develop their own scripts for manually replicating data.
