Independent group rates cloud firewall security vendors

Nonprofit group CyberRatings.org recently conducted its first independent comparative evaluation of cloud network firewall solutions, according SDxCentral. The test serves as a signal that the cloud firewall market has evolved into one that enterprises can rely upon, according to CyberRatings.orgCEO Vikram Phatak. The test assessed solutions based on features that were tagged as essential, which included access control, basic routing, evasion, management, performance, reliability, stability, SSL/TLS decryption and threat prevention focusing on exploits. The test also took pricing into account. The group gave its highest AAA rating to Versa Networks, Forcepoint, Fortinet, and Juniper, while Palo Alto Networks received an AA and Sophos was given an A. Meanwhile, the group gave Ciscos product a CC rating, mainly because its firewall currently does not cover TLS 1.3 cipher suites, which make up around 68% of internet traffic, said Phatak. However, Ciscos solution provides around 96% of protection, Phatak said, which would have been good were it not for the lack of TLS 1.3 support.
