Informatica announces purchase of Privitar

Enterprise end-to-end data management solutions provider Informatica said it is acquiring Privitar, a data privacy protection startup, for an undisclosed amount, VentureBeat reports. Informatica says the purchase would bolster its Intelligent Data Management Cloud platform, an AI-powered tool that enables data democratization alongside policy and ethical principles compliance at enterprises. The upgrade would enable support for critical use cases focused on cloud analytics, data mesh, data marketplace, and governance. It can also provide automated application of policy-based privacy and access controls thanks to integration with Informatica's Claire AI engine. With Privitar's data access management and privacy capabilities integrated into IDMC, customers can deliver best-in-class data governance, access, policies, and compliance empowering better data-driven decision-making and business outcomes, said Informatica CEO Amit Walia. Privitars efforts pre-purchase were in developing tools for establishing policy-based data access and privacy controls in data operations, such as embedding invisible watermarks into data to monitor unauthorized distribution or to automatically de-identify the information in case of illegal access.
