Report reveals challenges facing SD-WAN, SASE segments

MEF has released the results of a study that reveals the challenges that could impact the growth of the SD-WAN and secure access service edge markets, based on surveys of 36 service provider experts from around the world, according to SDxCentral. For the SD-WAN segment, the three leading challenges were found to be related to dealing with operating in a multi-vendor environment, specifically, managing the complexities of operating multi-vendor SD-WAN, integrating their security options and establishing end-to-end service level agreements. According to the survey, the SASE markets greatest challenges are related to standardization and education, including the lack of industry standards, customer migration and education, the lack of complete solutions from vendors and operating within a multi-vendor environment." The SASE services market is in its very early days, confusing, and full of a host of challenges related to customer education, customer migration, lack of industry standards, the lack of complete SASE vendor solutions and more," noted MEF Principal Analyst Stan Hubbard. Nevertheless, the markets are expected to reach analyst expectations for revenue growth, according to the study, which noted that all service providers included in the survey already have a SASE offering or elements of it or are in the planning stages for introducing a SASE solution.
