TPG Telecom reports breach affecting 2 customers

TPG Telecom disclosed a breach of its legacy TrustedCloud hosting service that resulted in the attackers gaining unauthorized access to data belonging to two of its customers, according to ZDNet.

The company said the incident affected no other customers “from any of our other brands, products or services.” It added that the breach was isolated to the TrustedCloud service, which “is hosted in a standalone environment that is separate from our telecommunications networks and other systems.”

The company said TrustedCloud, which it obtained as part of the 2011 acquisition of IntraPower, is undergoing decommissioning prior to full deactivation in August, and currently has a small number of customers still using it.

TPG added that it has implemented new measures to strengthen TrustedCloud’s security, in addition to a general bolstering of cybersecurity defenses across the company’s business, although it expressed confidence that the incident did not affect any of its other environments.
