Computer issues temporarily delayed American Airline flights traveling in and out of Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami on Thursday, but the airline stated the event was not due to hacking.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced a ground stop at 12:41 p.m. Eastern that affected nearly 20 percent of daily departures for the world's largest airline, according to CNN. American Airlines announced that it had resolved the “connectivity issues that caused the challenges” at the three of its busiest airports at 2:14 p.m.
“We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers,” an airline spokesperson told SCMagazine.com via email correspondence.
We've resolved connectivity issues that caused challenges at DFW, ORD and MIA. We're sorry and will have you on your way soon.

The airline did not specify what caused the problem but told CNN that there is no reason to believe the incident is related to hacking and added that its IT team is continuing to investigate the issue. A router connectivity issue grounded most of the United Airlines fleet for more than an hour in July.
