Forrester finds companies plan to grow enterprise app stores in 2014

More than one-third of firms plan to increase spending on enterprise app stores, according to a new study.

Forrester's first quarter "The State of Enterprise Mobile Security" reports indicates that approximately 31 percent of enterprises are already implementing or expanding enterprise app store solutions, while one-third plan to implement them in 2014.

An enterprise app store allows employers to distribute and monitor their mobile apps without using a popular consumer app store, such as Google or Apple. This privatized store often controls access to potentially sensitive apps and data, which attracts firms looking to increase app security and reduce potential security breaches.

Researchers also found that twenty-nine percent of companies plan to hire a third party to develop apps.
