Proofpoint acquires NetCitadel in $24M deal

Yet another acquisition in the information security industry takes place as security-as-a-service provider Proofpoint has acquired Silicon Valley-based NetCitadel.

The deal is worth approximately $24 million in cash, and bolsters the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based security firm's advanced threat solution offerings, according to a recent release by the company.

As part of the deal, NetCitadel's team of security experts and engineers will join the Proofpoint team at its Sunnyvale headquarters, and according to its LinkedIn profile, the company has up to 50 employees.

NetCitadel is known for its work in automated security incident response and, according to co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer Mike Horn, the company looks forward to being able to bring their technology to a “broader market.”
