Man charged with installing malware in his former company’s network

An Ohio man is being charged with installing malware into his former company's network in order to wreak havoc on the system and destroy company files after being denied for a job.

Arturas Samoilovas, 35, of Stow, Ohio, was charged with one count of transmitting and attempting to transmit computer codes, programs or commands, with the intent to cause damage to a protected computer, according to a release by the FBI.

Between November 2013 and May 2014, Samoilovas was a contract employee for industrial manufacturing firm Eaton Corporation as a financial analyst. Prior to the end of his temporary contract, Samoilovas applied for other positions at the firm with no luck.

According to the release, he accessed the company's computer system on or about May 21, 2014 and installed the malware in an attempt to delete sensitive company information.
