Brian Farrell, the former staffer at the illegal drug website Silk Road 2.0, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine, which could lead to Farrell spending five to 40 years in prison and being fined up to $5 million.
The plea was entered on March 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The court documents stated that Farrell joined Silk Road 2.0 in December 2013 using the handle ‘DoctorClu' where he helped maintain the site and worked with vendors supplying product. The court papers also state Farrell lead a denial of service attack against the Tor Market, a site competing with Silk Road 2.0.
Silk Road 2.0 launched in November 2013 or one month after the original Silk Road was terminated by the FBI. The first version's leader, Ross Ulbricht, was arrested and sentenced to life in prison in May 2015.
