Data compromised in EasyPark hack

Hackread reports that major European parking app operator EasyPark Group has confirmed being impacted by a cyberattack that resulted in customer data theft. Included in the data compromised in the breach were EasyPark customers' names, home and email addresses, phone numbers, and credit card numbers although the company clarified that any combination of the stolen data could not be leveraged to make illicit payments. No details regarding the number of impacted users were provided but most of those who were affected were in Europe, according to an EasyPark spokesperson. Such a breach comes more than two years after one of EasyPark's subsidiaries ParkMobile was compromised through a third-party breach that resulted in the exposure of data from more than 21 million customers, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs. Information exposed in the massive March 2021 breach included phone numbers, email addresses, license plate numbers, and hashed passwords.
