A top elected Illinois Republican representative abruptly resigned his position citing “cybersecurity issues” as the reason for his departure.
State Rep. Ron Sandack issued a statement through the Illinois GOP that he was leaving his office effective July 24, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve the people of the 81st District for the past four years in Springfield. But after some cyber security issues arose, I began to re-evaluate my continued public service,” Sandack said, according to the Sun-times, adding he also wished to spend more time with his family.
Sandack had active Twitter and Facebook accounts, which have since been taken down, the Sun-Times reported.
