OWC partners with Acronis protect your backups from ransomware attacks

OWC, known to Mac users for its docks and external storage devices or for RAM and storage upgrades, is working with Acronis to bolster the security of backup devices, ZDNet reports.

Users of OWC storage solutions with SoftRAID may now access the Acronis True Image OEM software, which ensures that users have a reliable copy of their data when system backups are created via OWC external storage systems. “Adding Acronis True Image Technology to our OWC storage solutions is truly amazing. This partnership will tremendously add to our customers feeling their data is safe and protected for years to come,” said OWC CEO and founder Larry O’Connor.

The Acronis True Image OEM software also comes with the Acronis Active Protection, an artificial intelligence-enhanced anti-ransomware technology that uses behavioral heuristics to monitor cryptojacking and ransomware attacks in real-time. This solution was able to prevent over 600,000 ransomware attacks in 2020 alone.
