Former Secret Service agent Shaun Bridges agreed Wednesday to plead guilty to stealing $820,000 worth of Bitcoin during the Silk Road investigation. Authorities say the former agent obtained Silk Road login credentials after arresting one of the site's customer service representatives then used them to the transfer the digital currency to himself.
Bridges was indicted in March along with DEA agent, Carl Force, who was accused of creating false identities during the Silk Road investigation in order to extort silk road founder, Ross Ulbricht, out of nearly $235,000. Another court filing indicated that Force may be may also enter into a plea agreement later this year, according to The San Francisco Gate.
The Gate also reported that Bridges is expected to formally enter the plea in late August. The agreement is subject to a judge's approval.
