Site identifies accounts compromised in major breaches

Users looking to identify whether their accounts have been impacted by recent breaches, including Adobe's, can check through Computer scientist Troy Hunt launched the site earlier this week.

The site allows users to search through a database of exposed email accounts on six websites, including Sony and Yahoo, to determine whether they have been compromised. Hunt's FAQ page explains that no passwords are stored and that his goal is to "map email addresses to data breaches."

According to a Twitter page set up for the site, 63,000 visitors conducted 162,000 searches on the first day the site was live. Thirty-two percent of the searched emails were "pwned."

The two largest breaches lists are Adobe's, with 153 million leaked accounts, and Gawker's, with 1.3 million leaked accounts
