Data cloud company Snowflake has announced its partnership with Securonix to mark its entry into the cybersecurity space, according to SiliconANGLE.
Securonix is the developer of a cloud-native security information and event management system. Such systems detect suspicious events such as repeated login attempts or excessively large data downloads through analysis of large amounts of data. Snowflake's head of cybersecurity strategy, Omer Singer, said the move is in line with the company's push to attract companies that are moving to the cloud to power their SIEM processing to take advantage scalable storage.
"Cloud infrastructure is so heavily instrumented that it generates 10 times the amount of data," Singer said. "You need secure cloud infrastructure."
Through Securonix's "bring your own Snowflake" program, customers will be able to use the Securonix user interface to process data at scale in Snowflake and detect potential security incidents using packaged behavior analytics without having to change or duplicate data storage.
"This will make every Snowflake customer re-evaluate their SIEM strategy, asking if it makes sense for them to use a SIEM that separates them from their data," according to Singer.
