Internet security specialist Thales has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the data security firm Vormetric for $400 million.
The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2016 and Thales said that the move complements the company's current cybersecurity activities and will strengthen the company's complement of cyber solutions, according to a press release.. Vormetric is headquartered in San Jose, Calif. and has 200 employees worldwide. No further details on how Thales will absorb Vormetric were available.
Trend Micro announced earlier this week that it had bought Hewlett-Packard's TippingPoint web security division for $300 million. This deal is expected to close by the end of 2015.
