Easterly: US should combat Chinese threats with Ukraine intelligence sharing approach

The U.S. has been urged by Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly to leverage accelerated intelligence declassification efforts with critical infrastructure organizations conducted prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in combating Chinese cybersecurity threats, according to CyberScoop. "In the event of a conflict, China will almost certainly use aggressive cyber operations, to go after our critical infrastructure to include pipelines and rail lines to delay military deployment and to induce societal panic. This, I think, is the real threat that we need to be prepared for and to focus on and to build resilience against," said Easterly. More radical threat intelligence disclosure and sharing have also been recommended by House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party Ranking Member Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill. "That's the type of attitude I think we need to take with regard to any adversarial regime, whether it's Russia and certainly in the case of the CCP," Krishnamoorthi said.
